The experience on this issue of the Cluster Campus Paris Saclay is very interesting to look at: the Campus development master plan voted in 2011 ensured the preservation of 2 300 acres of agriculture land across the campus. But at that time, most of the agriculture was industrial production. AMAP and other community supported agriculture activists advocate that this situation was non-sense. Teaming with local authorities and agriculture labs and schools of the campus, they launch a large experimentation of local farming aiming at food self sufficiency of the campus. In 10 years they manage to turn more than 80 % of the agricultural land into local production, converting former industrial farm into smaller local organic production, giving access to land to young farming entrepreneurs and agricultural startups\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">This exceptional situation challen<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">ged <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">all the food chain with turning industrial food catering into many initiatives of \u2018canteen at the local farm\u2019; \u2018one mile restaurants\u2019 or \u2018companies orchards\u2019 installed on land spared on car parks.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>___<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em><strong>Des campus en autonomie alimentaire<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/43453296?color=ffffff\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"650\" height=\"355\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>L&#8217;agriculture urbaine et <\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>l\u2019autonomie alimentaire ont toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme le Graal. L\u2019exp\u00e9rience du Cluster Campus de Paris Saclay est tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressante \u00e0 observer sur ce s<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>ujet: le Sch\u00e9ma Directeur de<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em> d\u00e9veloppement vot\u00e9 en 2011 garantit la pr\u00e9servation de 2300 hectares de terrain agricole autour du campus. Mais \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, l\u2019agriculture \u00e9tait massivement industrielle. Les AMAP, et autres militants membres de communaut\u00e9s en faveur de l\u2019agriculture jug\u00e8rent que cette situation \u00e9tait absurde. En s\u2019alliant avec les autorit\u00e9s local<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>es, le<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>s laboratoires et \u00e9coles du campus, ils lanc\u00e8rent un vaste projet exp\u00e9rimental d\u2019agriculture locale et d\u2019autosuffisance du campus sur le plan alimentaire. En 10 ans ils r\u00e9ussirent \u00e0 d\u00e9dier plus de 80% des terres agricoles \u00e0 la production locale, en transformant le<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>s anciennes exploitations industrielles en de plus petites productions biolo<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>giques, et en rendant des terres accessi<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>bles \u00e0 d<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>e jeunes agriculteurs, et \u00e0 des startups d\u00e9di\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019agricultu<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>re&#8230;<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>Cette situation exceptionnelle fut un d\u00e9fi pour toute la chaine alimentaire, transformant la restauration industrielle en de multiples initiatives comme \u00ab\u00a0la cantine \u00e0 la ferme\u00a0\u00bb \u00ab\u00a0le restaurant circuit-court\u00a0\u00bb et le<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>s \u00ab vergers publics\u00a0\u00bb co<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>nstruits sur des terrains initialement pr\u00e9vus pour des parkings.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Urban farming and food sufficiency has always been the Graal.
