The events draw attention to the scandal of wasted food while encouraging food businesses\u00a0to\u00a0divert\u00a0surpluses to the many food banks that are experiencing\u00a0increasing demand from vulnerable groups\u00a0of people struggling to feed themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Last years\u00a0event brought together huge numbers of volunteers who prepared good quality surplus fresh food that would otherwise have been sent to landfill.
