They were growing on entire region with this kind of initiatives on all cities. These actions still expand for villages on Galicia nowadays.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Ourense has a lot of green spaces as parks and gardens, with expensive maintenance, and lot private and public floors without use too caused for Spanish construction bubble.<\/p>\n<p>This opportunity was based under a opportunity of high external co-financing based on FAIL programme (State financing at 80% to infrastructures) on 2010 as a state strategy against unemployment on construction sector. This financial instrument made possible this investment to city council for over 90.000 Euros.<\/p>\n<p>Promoted by Education council of city, final objective was developing \u201curban orchards\u201d on the city with one specific character: Improving a clear educational focusing on this activity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Result<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Located on working class projects called \u201cMari\u00f1amansa\u201d our initiative started with investment of 347.000 euros (90.000 cofinanced by Education Department), over a land of 2.262 m2, 13% of \u00a0this neibourhood\u00b4s green zone.<\/p>\n<p>This mapping had five different spaces:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>18 orchards to citizen\u00b4s users.<\/li>\n<li>2 to people with reduced mobility.<\/li>\n<li>2 orchards strictly focused to the education activities.<\/li>\n<li>One enjoying zone focused to schools with orchard and flower zone.<\/li>\n<li>One common space with rest structures and a little garden of flowers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>During first 3 months users farmed first vegetables, fruits and flowers\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, two years and a half:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UNICEF awards it last year as \u201cBest practice on local policies\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Urban orchards\u201d are working full and user\u00b4s application to get orchards has queued list now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/10\/ourense31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3931\" title=\"ourense3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/10\/ourense31.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"395\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/10\/ourense31.jpg 395w, http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/10\/ourense31-300x146.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 395px) 100vw, 395px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The program will continue its development on 2013-2014:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mari\u00f1amansa: Education Council planning will extend 20 orchards more. All of them must be cultivated only under ecological agriculture principles.<\/li>\n<li>Montealegre Forest: Environment council will plan another space on the biggest botanic park of the city to eat all queued demand of citizens to be users of the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Benefits<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Environmental:<strong><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Local biodiversity fostered <strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>New landscapes created on green and unproductive zones.<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Improving environmental quality, always under ecological agriculture principles (obligatory on Mari\u00f1amansa new extension as an example for rest)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Social: <strong><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This initiative\u00a0 has visits of schools week by week to empower intergenerational dialogue between child and old people (Major percentage of users)<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Integration of old people migrated from rural zones reducing social (Depopulation feelings) and cultural impact (Culture decadence) on them.<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Better life quality:<strong><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Active Ageing: Users develops physical and mental activity<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Fresh and seasonable food: Better nutrition for users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>All common spaces and two orchards are accessible for people with reduced mobility:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/10\/ourense41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3932\" title=\"ourense4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/10\/ourense41.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"395\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/10\/ourense41.jpg 395w, http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/10\/ourense41-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 395px) 100vw, 395px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Economical\n<ul>\n<li>Recycled a little part of massive situation of unemployment (27%) between intergenerational dialogue and return to agriculture sector.<\/li>\n<li>Personal consumption fostered on lowest incomes context.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro and Contra<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Strong points: <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Very benchmarkable<\/li>\n<li>Horizontal policy with social, cultural and economic effects.\n<ul>\n<li>Local public smart-saving:\n<ul>\n<li>Low maintenance of green zones.<\/li>\n<li>Turn on unused spaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Self-consume on crisis.<\/li>\n<li>Micro-enterprenneuring and training for agriculture sector\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Social impact on different groups: Oldies, child, unemployed people\u2026.<\/li>\n<li>Culture exchange between traditional knowledge and new methods trough intergenerational dialogue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Weak Points: <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>We think this local policy must be transferred slowly to cities that are executing measures to empower their rural lands perimeter to food production, as we, to not develop a \u201ccall effect\u201d on potential \u201creturners\u201d of these rururban zones. <strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>We had a bad experience with 2 Neibourhood associations that rejected the project if they don\u00b4t integrated after intervention.<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>What are the lessons learn to be used\/transferred\/implemented in the other partner cities?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This local policy can be benchmarked in all kind of cities if you adjust characters referred after.<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Question to the network<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Do you have any local policy in this sense?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>3.
