Top-down policies are not enough, so Udine has implemented a paradigm which leverages on participation and gaming to trigger responsible change.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Primary examples of playful places are the&nbsp;<em>Move your minds<\/em>community centres, the&nbsp;<em>Municipal Toy Library<\/em>and its public park, the&nbsp;<em>Travelling ToyBus<\/em>, the city squares during the&nbsp;<em>World Games Day<\/em>, the math contest&nbsp;<em>Pi Day<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Darwin Day<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>The Night of Living Books<\/em>, etc. Programmes have been co-created by using playing as the main paradigm, such as the&nbsp;<em>Energy In Play<\/em>annual fair, and they have contributed to the improvement of urban places and raised awareness of health, energy and sustainability issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Using games as a way for place-making<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Awarded and labelled as a \u2018Good practice\u2019 by URBACT, it stems from using \u2018games\u2019 as a flexible and innovative co-creating place-making paradigm, in addressing the needs of an actively ageing, energy aware, equitable and democratic society.
