This is the 3rd year of the Garden Trail,\u00a0organised by the Bristol Food Network to promote urban food growing and supported by Bristol City Council.<\/p>\n<p>The Trail will form\u00a0part of\u00a0\u00a0the\u00a0Green\u00a0Fringe\u00a0leading up to Bristol&#8217;s Big Green Week\u00a0starting on 15th June<\/p>\n<p>Last year 32 community gardens from all around the city participated in the Trail. There was a good selection\u00a0in terms\u00a0of sizes, types (garden, farm, orchard)\u00a0and memberships (open, co-operative, social enterprise, small holdings).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/02\/trail2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1095\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/02\/trail2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"642\" height=\"499\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/02\/trail2.jpg 642w, https:\/\/www.sustainable-everyday-project.net\/urbact-sustainable-food\/files\/2013\/02\/trail2-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0A variety of activities were on offer during the Garden Trail weekend. Most gardens had plant, seed, produce and bake sales. Visitors were also given gardening tips, guided tour of the gardens\/farms\/orchards and demonstrations on growing in small spaces.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">In addition, face painting, decorating\u00a0water butts converted from redundant wheelie bins,\u00a0\u00a0planting seedlings and meet-the-animals proved popular with the children. Several individual\u00a0activities that attracted a large number of visitors were a herbal riverside walk, seasonal food demonstrations and tasting, barbecues, make your own pizzas and\u00a0\u00a0tea\u00a0 sampling.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Some gardens\u00a0organised live music performances to entertain their visitors creating a great atmosphere enjoyed by all ages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bristol&#8217;s &#8216;Get Growing Garden Trail&#8217; will run on 8th and 9th June 2013\u00a0 and this year will particularly emphasise &#8216;cooking from scratch&#8217; activities.
