Post-pandemic design
About fifteen labs of the DESIS (Design for Social Innovation and Sustainable Development) international network are echoing in the POC to mobilize resources in an emergency, to rethink public space and social life in distancing, to invent new mixes between face-to-face and online …
Collab Grajaú, local and connected
In the Grajaú neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro, the initiative of the design university “My Neighbourhood Project” was to build a strong relationship with people, encouraging residents to be active agents of change in their community.
During the pandemic period, a Collab Grajaú participatory mapping exercise identified small businesses and volunteers in the neighbourhood in order to stimulate self-help and personal connections between residents/workers.
After the pandemic, the Grajaú Collab map will continue to be available online as a reliable source of services, encouraging the local economy and showcasing local small businesses.

BioCanteens
On the side between Grasse and Antibes, the small town of Mouans-Sartoux serves every day in the canteens of its 3 primary schools, 1000 meals 100% organic and local. The secret is the meticulous design of sustainable canteens at every phase of the process: 7ha of preserved land in the town centre where a certified organic farm is installed; a municipal farm where 3 municipal farmer-agents produce the main part of the fruit and vegetables supplying the canteen; the participation of children, teachers and kitchen teams to achieve almost zero food waste. Results, bio-local meals at the same price as industrial catering and Mouans-Sartoux leading a network to transfer its good practices to 10 cities in France and 6 cities in Europe .
